Chapter One
The Torture Room
Suddenly I woke up, strapped to a chair. 'What . . . ?' I whispered. Dazed, I looked around me. I was in a room with a concrete floor and cinderblock walls. A single bare lightbulb hung glaring from a wire above me. Against the wall across from me there was a set of white metal drawers. A tray was attatched to it. There were instruments on the tray - awful instruments - blades and pincers and something that looked like a minature version of those acetylene torches welders use. The instruments lay on a white cloth. The cloth was stained with blood.

The sight of the blood jolted me into full consciousness. I tried to move my arms and legs. I couldn't. That's when I saw the straps. One on each wrist, holding me to the chair's metal arms. One on each ankle, holding me to its metal legs. And there was blood here too. More blood. On the floor at my feet. On my white shirt, on my black slacks, on my arms. And there were bruises on my arms, dark purple bruises. And there were oozing burn marks on the backs of my hands.

I hurt. I kind of just realised it all at once. My whole body ached and stung inside and out. My shirt was soaking wet. My skin felt clammy with sweat. My mouth tasted like dirt. I smelled like garbage.

Have you ever had a nightmare, a really bad one, where you wake up and you can feel your heart hammering against the bed and you can't catch your breath? Then, as you start to understand that the nightmare wasn't real, that it was all a dream, your heart slows down again and your breathing gets deeper and you relax and think, Whew, that sure seemed real.

Well, this was exactly the opposite. I opened my eyes expecting to see my bedroom at home, my black-belt certificate, my trophies, my poster of The Lord of the Rings. Instead, I was in what should have been a nightmare, but wasn't. It was real. And every second, my heart beat harder. My breath came shorter. Panic flared up in me like a living flame.

Where was I? Where was my room? Where were my parents? What was happening to me? How did I get here?

Terrified, I racked my brain, trying to think, trying to figure it out, asking myself in the depths of my confusion and fear: what was the last thing I remembered . . . ?

COMING TO EFNW

Omega’s new theme blares through the arena as the fans boo. Omega walks onto the stage, smirking, wearing his street gear. He holds a microphone in one hand and walks down the ramp. At the bottom of the ramp he jumps onto the apron and pyro comes out of the turnbuckles. He steps into the ring and stands in the middle, raising the mic to his lips.

Omega: Boo me all you want, I’M BAAAACCCK! That’s right, after a long awaited return to EFNW Omega has come back! And I came back in the best fashion, getting a win over Josh Polson! Now that I’m back here in EFNW I want to let you guys in on a little secret. You ready? I’m here to become the Extreme Heavyweight Champion! I know I know, its not really a secret, that’s been my target ever since I debuted here, but I’m doing something different. Instead of just coming out to this ring and demolishing whoever my opponent is, I’m going to issue a challenge to the champ, sooner or later. Right now I just need to get back to what I do best, and that is wrestle. I will wrestle out here each and every week and do whatever it takes to win, and when I feel that its time for me to become champion, I’ll issue that challenge. But only when I feel that I’m ready.

The fans boo as Omega smirks and leans against the ropes.

Omega: I’m not a man of many words, that’s a fact. But right now I’m not here to wrestle; I’m not here to inflict as much punishment on whoever stands in my way. No, I’m here to talk. Talking is not something I come out here and do very often, I consider you all lucky to see me out here in my street gear, but when I come out here to talk, I always have something worthwhile to say, and I’m not even half done yet so listen up. Whoever steps in my way next, whoever it may be, whether if its guys like Peter Linch, Christian Strom or Tyler Ryder, or even if its guys like Cyrus Black, Twista XL, Casey Anomaly or even Surge, whoever crosses my path next, will receive the same fate. Josh Polson received 2 100% Bombs, and opponents will have that happen to them week in and week out, until I’m ready for that World Title shot. At that point, I’ll lessen the destruction a touch, but not too much so that I won’t become champion, because when I do challenge for that belt, I will win it. No ifs, ands or buts about it! I will walk into this ring one of these days as EFNW Extreme Heavyweight Champion, whether anyone likes it or not!

Omega’s theme blares through the arena, as he smirks and rolls out of the ring, walking backstage.
