{CWA Championship}
'Captain Charisma' Christian Cage versus 'The Lone Wolf' Nigel McGuinness
The bell sounded and the match everybody has been waiting for was underway - the CWA Championship match. At the end of this bout we'd have our first ever champion and both men knew what was at stake as they cautiously circled each other. Despite his dispiciable actions over the opening month of the company, Nigel McGuinness had his fair share of support with duelling 'Let's go Nigel!' and 'Christian Cage!' chants coming from the Chicago crowd. After nearly a minute of circling and testing the waters the duo locked up for the first time.

After much pushing and movement from both men, neither could find a chink in the other's armour and they broke before immediately locking up again. This time Nigel McGuinnes was quick to twist Christian's arm around to his back. From this position of power, McGuinness slapped Christian disrespectfully in the back of the head before pushing him away, elicting much booing from the crowd. Angered, Christian Cage turned around and charged into a surprised Nigel McGuinnes knocking him off his feet. McGuinness instinctively sprang up but Cage repeated the method and knocked him to the ground again. Wearily, McGuinness clamboured to his feet one eye on Christian at all times.

The two men met in the center of the ring and locked up for the third time. Nigel McGuinness quickly broke the lock-up kicking Cage in the mid-section and forcing him into the corner. McGuinness raised an open hand and brought it down with a scintilating knife-edge chop. A pause, then another, and another, and another. This continued with much welping from Christian until McGuinness had found his chest a savage ten times. As Cage stumbled out from the corner, bright-red welts were visible from the assault. McGuinness laughed arragontly at the pain he had inflicted on Cage before running at Christian and thrusting his knee into the side of Captain Charisma bringing him to the ground.

McGuinness upped the intensity with an array of stamps to his fallen opponent, nearly getting disqualified when failing to acknowlegde the referee's shouts to lay off. McGuinness argued with the referee, questioning what he did wrong and as he did so Christian quickly ran up behind McGuinness and rolled him up! One, Two, Th- KICK OUT! McGuinness, positively infuriated by the roll-up charged absent-mindedly at Christian - exactly what Cage wanted. As McGuinness extended his arm for a clothesline, Christian ducked under, pivoted and as McGuinness turned nailed the Brit with a Flashpoint.

As McGuinness was reeling from Cage's diving uppercut, Christian took a quick breather before resuming offense. After a couple of slaps to the face of McGuinness, Christian got him in the fireman's carry position but McGuinness squirmed free and quickly snapped Christian's arm into place before nailing a hammerlock DDT known affectionately to his cult-like fans as Divorce Court. As Christian writhed about in pain, holding his arm, McGuinness' face lit up. He had a new target - Cage's arm. McGuinness smiled an evil smile as if confirming what everybody knew - there is nobody in the game better than targetting a specific body part than The Lone Wolf.

As the match surpassed the fifteen minut mark, Nigel McGuinness was in total and utter control. He set about a number of excruciating ways in which to damage the right arm of Captain Charisma, starting with a few arm-drags. Christian quickly realised The Brit's plot and went on the defense, evading McGuinness' kicks and chops and avoiding any potential lock-ups. For his part, Christian did a great job but eventually McGuinness caught him with a cross chop to the throat and as Christian was struggling for breath, McGuinness twisted Christian's arm around and brought him to the mat. The pain Christian experienced from the arm wringer was evident as he rolled about in the mat in agony. McGuinness stamped on the arm of Christian before applying London Dungeon to the helpless Christian.

The commentators upped the ante, discussing how this grounded wristlock could be the end for Christian. If the commentators lifted the atmosphere a bit, the Chicago crowd completely went into over-drive cheering and pleading with Cage to somehow break the hold. Cage did what he could, moving around frantically trying to lessen the grip. McGuinness tried to get the leg grapevine in and the aforementioned frantic scrambling from Christian Cage is all that prevented him. The commentators voiced the crowds concern that if McGuinness managed to get the grapevine in it would be all over. Cage, in a gargantuan effort had inched closer and closer towards the rope, devastatingly close to reaching the ropes with his free left hand. The crowd urged him on and as if in a direct response, McGuinness added more torque to the move. Christian gave a mighty surge and his outstrecthed hand made fingertip contact with the bottom rope. Cage gave one last push and wrapped his hand around the bottom rope. The referee order McGuinness to release the hold but he was rebutted. The ref began the count. One, two, three, four, fiv- McGuinness released the hold ... then dragged Christian back a few feet and re-applied the London Dungeon submission - leg grapevine and all.

The crowd boo'd relentlessly at McGuinness' underhand tactics but the animosity seemed not to bother The Lone Wolf. Christian raised his left hand and McGuinness sensed victory - his eyes gleaming at the thought of capturing the CWA Championship. However, instead of tapping, Christian used what was left of his strength to use his left arm to push down on the mat and roll over. McGuinness shouders were on the ground! One, two, thre- A huge groan from the crowd as McGuinness released the hold just as Cage was about to get a smart victory. McGuinness rose, looking very annoyed that Christian didn't tap but faster still was Cage himself, who urged on by pure adrenaline was already coming at McGuinness like an express train. McGuinness' eyes widened just before Cage nailed him with a bone-crunching Spear! The crowd cheered but then stop as they realised that Christian was holding his arm. Obviously his move had inflicted hurt upon himself. Still Christian crawled over and slumped his good arm across McGuinness. One, two, thre- KICK OUT! Whether it was the slight delay or just pure resiliance on the part of McGuinness, he had managed to kick out.

As the match closed in on the twenty minute mark both competitors looked tired and jaded, yet both were still on their feet. The duelling chants started again and although they were heavily in favour of Christian Cage it was easy to see that both men's mammoth efforts had been appreciated by the crowd. Christian got a surge of life from the near-fall and went on the offense. He nailed Nigel with a few hard lefts before ducking under a spinning lariat attempt and nailing a reverse back elbow which seen McGuinness get tangled in the ropes. As McGuinness was freeing himself Cage sprinted at the Brit and sent him over the top rope with a clothesline. Again, Christian had neglected the thinking through of the move and it appeared as though the clothesline had sent a spasm of pain shooting up his arm. As McGuinness groggily got to his feet Christian pointed at him provoking a big cheer from the crowd. Christian ran against the opposite set of ropes and on the rebound dived between the top rope and middle rope, flying through the air towards Nigel McGuinness and ... missed completely. McGuinness had stepped out of the way and a pessimistic sound filled the arena - a mix of the fans groaning and Chirstian body making a resounding thud against the arena floor. McGuinness picked Christian up - by the arm of course - and rolled him into the ring.

Christian attempted to get up and made it to a seated position but was brought back to reality as McGuinness slid into the ring and smacked his back with a vicious soccer kick. The sound of the impact could be heard all over the arena even though the Chicago crowd were making an unbelievable amount of noise. Zoning in on his prey like a true wolf, McGuinness lifted Cage up, Irish whipped him (pulling him by his injured right arm of course) into the corner and charged at him nailing a lariat. Christian stayed on his feet and McGuinness started the near-ritual pre-attack of a flurry of fists and forearms. As Christian stood dazed in the corner McGuinness turned around and flipped the bird to the crowd in general. The fans knew what was coming and the commentators confirmed it - this was all about to end with the Tower of London. McGuinness turned back around to finish the deed.

What he hadn't expected - despite the large pop of the crowd - was to find that only Christian's upper half was in the ring. The lower half was outside the ring. Perhaps due to shock or due to wrestling a titanic match for half an hour, McGuinness didn't budge - but Christian did. In vintage Christian Cage fashion he swung his legs forward using his hands on the top rope for leverage and nailed McGuinness with a pendulem kick. The fans roared in approval as McGuinness staggered into the center of the ring, a fired-up Christian Cage hot in pursuit. Christian went behind a dazed McGuinness and got him in Killswitch positon. The crowd were at fever pitch as Christian twisted McGuinness around just about to land the fatal blow. Their cheers intestified and just as they were about to start cheering for their new CWA Champion ... Christian's arm gave out. McGuinness scarcely believed his luck and it took him a moment to react. But a moment wasn't enough for Cage who was cluthcing his arm which was protruding at an unnatural angle. Nigel McGuinnes gleefully pounced on Christian Cage locking him in an innovated cross arm-breaker type submission. It didn't even last five seconds, there was nothing Christian could do, he was in the center of the ring and Christian had the longetivty of his career to think about. It was over in a flash, one second McGuinness had applied the armbreaker, the very next Christian was furiously tapping out, bestowing the first ever CWA Championship upon the shoulders of The Lone Wolf, Nigel McGuinness.

Winner - Nigel McGuinness @36:04
