| Since this is a new forum and it needs some life, I thought, 'What better time than President's Day to make a thread like this? Your opinions?
Historically, it definitely goes to Lincoln or Washington, with Jefferson in third place.
Modern times, Ronald Reagan did a great job, and George W. Bush Jr. did a phenomenal job, especially in such a terrible time to hold a US office. JFK is also the best democrat to ever hold office; though there aren't many good democrats in my opinion.

| I chose one Bill Clinton! Why, because I didn't have sexual relations with that woman either. | |

I think Bill was referring to Hillary when he said that tbh. |

I agree, he's the best president of my lifetime. By far. |

| Looking back on this thread, I'm surprised about the number of people that said Clinton. I thought he was a pretty bad president. There have only been three presidents in my lifetime, but the only reason Clinton's the second best / second worst, depending on how you look at it, is because Obama is the worst thing we've seen in a LONG LONG time. Saying Clinton is better than Obama, which may be true, isn't saying much. |

| Lincon will always be #1. I don't think any other president could of did what he did.
That being said Polk is underlooked alot of the time. He was the only president to ever have the national debt at zero. Clinton and Obama are both great and top 15 in my book. JFK is also really good.
Worst is proabably James Buchannon.

Worst is proabably James Buchannon. Please explain to me why Obama is "great." First under him we ended an 8 year war which cannot be understated. The repeal of Dont Ask Dont tell. The execution of the most wanted man in the world, which we had been looking fo since the Clinton days. Also has signed treaties to reduce the amount of Atomic Bombs. CARD Act. Health Care bill.

The execution of the most wanted man in the world, which we had been looking fo since the Clinton days. Also has signed treaties to reduce the amount of Atomic Bombs. CARD Act. Health Care bill. 1. What progress have we made with said healthcare bill? Plenty of American citizens are still denied it. 2. The war is far from over. Even if it was, Obama's role in it is minimal. The military has been deployed in the Middle East for well over a decade now and everything is up to them, not anyone in Washington. Terrorists still roam free and with a terrorist threat in less than four months, I wouldn't say we're done "fighting." You mustn't forget that under Bush we dethroned Saddam Hussein and helped (and still are helping) Iraq make a transition into democracy. 3. What did Obama do to get Osama Bin Laden? "Give the okay?" Umm okay, ANYBODY would have given the okay. Saying "go get him" doesn't make you a better president than the next guy, especially since every president since Clinton has wanted Bin Laden. Obama had nothing to do with the capture, the Navy SEALs and the CIA are the only ones who can take true credit. And if we are to give credit to a president for capturing terrorists, which is stupid, I'd give it to Bush long before I did Obama. |

The execution of the most wanted man in the world, which we had been looking fo since the Clinton days. Also has signed treaties to reduce the amount of Atomic Bombs. CARD Act. Health Care bill. as for saying Lincoln is great, i disagree. the US was founded on the belief that if a group of people feel that there rights have been violated, they have the right to dissolve their political ties with the offending nation. Lincoln broke that by annexing back the Confederacy after a brutal civil war. him and the rest of the north commanders committed war crimes by starving the Confederacy. he made a law in a country that he had no control in (abolishing slavery). now, i'm not saying that i agree with slavery, but its not in my rights to tell other groups of people what to do, and Lincoln didn't have the power to abolish slavery. now, for Obama. the War on Terrorism isn't over. if anything, he stirred up the pot. yes, Osama is dead, but his followers now treat him like a martyr, and there have been many brutal wars because of martyrs. the war has just begun. even obama knows this. he didn't repeal Don't Ask Don't Tell. he had nothing to do with that. he was just president when that happened. the president doesn't have complete control. which brings me to my next point. it wasn't Obama defeating Osama in 3 years when Bush failed to do so in 8. it was the US defeating Osama in 11 years. Obama was lucky enough to be prez while he got the tip that Osama was living in Abottabad. Bush and every president since the end of the cold war has signed treaties to reduce the amount of a bombs and hydrogen bombs. the health care bill isn't that good, and it has been compared to the canadian system which a lot of people do not like. now, i've gotten all of your points. now let me give you some points to say how obama isn't good. Obama added more to the national debt than Bush did. keep in mind, Obama has now been in office for 3 years, Bush was in office for 8 years. and what did that money, that stimulus package, go to? Whatever the states wanted to do with it. there was no restrictions on how they had to spend the money. there was very little stimulus going on. it was more like road work. now, i will talk about one positive Obama has that not many presidents have had, and that's a great foreign policy. we have less enemies now than we have had in a long time. but, Obama isn't secretary of state, he's the President, so a great foreign policy does not make him a good president.

I agree with saying that Nixon was one of the better presidents. to people who are like wtf to what me and dolemite are saying, do you know why watergate was such a big scandal? because the american people saw this man who seemed very honest and did a lot of great stuff for this nation. and they saw how he lied in front of a grand jury. they saw the deception he did to win the election. they felt personally hurt that he would do something like that to them.

| In the latest poll by Siena FDR was #1. Clinton was 13, Obama was 15, Regan was like 17 or 18, and I think Bush jr. was 39th. | |

Exactly, obviously Watergate wasn't a good thing but Nixon had many better accomplishments. The guy opened China up.

| I am (personally) too young to care. But if I had to choose, one of the top presidents would be Truman. | |
