| April 2ndThe show kicks off with a video re-capping WrestleMania 23 followed by the usual RAW Intro Video. When it ends we go to the ring where Mr McMahon is standing. JR and Lawler quickly talk over last night's event, remembering the high points. McMahon quickly gets down to business stating that the figures and finacial success for WM23 is not what it should have been. He says that the WWE needs change and has hired a new head booker. He then goes onto say that the viewer's choice aspect that was set up for tonight's show is down to that man. He said the man would create change and recapture the glory years. As he says this William Regal's music hits and himself and Dave Taylor head onto the ring. Regal says that, he's sure this new head booker appreciates good wrestling and it seems the fans do as well as himself and Taylor are the VIEWERS-CHOICE for the upcoming match against two 'high-flying ruffians'.
Brian Kendrick & Paul London versus Blue Bloods In a match that was a mesh of two different styles, Kendrick and London barely held onto their WWE Tag Team Championships. Paul London in particular found some trouble with big Dave Taylor who dominated him for large periods of the match. William Regal seemed to knock Brian Kendrick out cold with a knee to the head and was just unlucky to see Kendrick fly out of the ring due to the force of the move. Taylor came close numerous times but Paul London rolled the big man up for the win @9:34.
We hit the back where we see John Cena ... ARRIVING! Pop, for some reason?
We cut to somewhere backstage where Bobby Lashley is standing with his ECW World Heavyweight Championship. He says he's made this championship what it is today. MIXED REACTION! He says there is nobody that can defeat him, he proved that last night against the GREAT Umaga. Didn't he used to be a superhero or something? Lashley said he doesn't care who his opponent is because he is ... TOTAL DOMINATION!
Bobby Lashley versus Test The returning Test, the man who had unsuccessfully challenged for Bobby Lashley's ECW World Championship numerous times, finally put away The Dominator. The two power houses clashed titanically on the outside of the ring and with the match being contested under Extreme Rules things got ugly and bloody fairly quickly. Despite a crimson mask, Lashley looked set to retain his ECW World Championship following a lung-puncturing spear however Stevie Richards, Little Guido Maritato and Hardcore Holly surrounded the ring. On Holly's nod the three men immersed themselves in the match. Lashley downed Holly and Maritato with right hooks but Stevie Richards nailed Lashley with a Stevie Kick sending Bobby Lashley right into a pumphandle slam and giving Test his first taste of World gold @7:12.
Huh? How about that, eh Bobby? After the match Hardcore Holly goes at Lashley with a baseball bat and Test nails him with the championship drawing blood. Test dabs his fingers with Lashley's blood and smears it down his cheek, he then yells that he's - HARDCORE!
We cut backstage where we see Kenny Dykstra ... WALKING! Ric Flair stops him ... WALKING! Ric Flair goes onto say that he has a big opportunity out there tonight and to keep his eye on the prize. WOOOOOO!
Jeff Hardy versus Kenny Dykstra Young Kenny Dykstra had a huge chance to make an impression tonight in the number one contender's match. Despite a decent performance he largely failed to capitalize. He had a string of moves which included an elevated neckbreaker and a belly to belly suplex but it wasn't enough to dampen Jeff Hardy's Intercontintnal Championship hopes. Hardy recovered and nailed a Twist of Fate to put the young gun away @4:21.
We cut to the locker-room of Rated-RKO. The two men are bickering. They have equal votes in the viewers choice apparantly. They seem to settle the squabble with Rock, Paper, Scissors. (Edge winning). Then in comes ... CHARLIE HASS! Errr ... Anyways Hass speaks a lot of sense regarding Michaels and Cena's holding of the World Tag Team Championships saying that it won't last long and when it finishes himself and Shelton will be there to pick up the pieces. Edge for some reason gets ANGRY! and says that Orton can have the match tonight and makes a match for ... uhh Thursday Night Heat.
Chavo Guerrero versus Jamie Noble A hotly contested Cruiserweight Championship match that ended in quite an unusual draw. The match started at a slow pace with plenty of lock-ups between the champion and Noble but following a top-rope cross-body from Noble - business picked up. The two shared lightning quick exchanges and some awe-inspiring dives. The match fizzled down to bare-knuckle boxing causing the referee to disqualify both men @8:00.
Shawn Michaels has an in-ring promo. He rocks the crowd and gets them behind him for the main event tonight. Super Cena comes out and says that he wishes Michaels the best of luck and wants people to know that it's not his decision to make this HBK's last chance. The tag team champs then shake hands. Somebody was expected to turn here. AND THEY DIDN'T!
Candice verus Torrie Wilson The two women were a bit shocked that they were wrestling for a chance at the Women's Championship and it showed. The two semi-decent wrestlers tried their best to put on a show. Torrie Wilson put Candice away with a Nose Job but she'll need to drastically improve if she wishes to trouble Melina @2:56.
King Booker cuts a hilarious backstage promo trying to act POSH! and CM Punk adds to the hilarity by saying funny shit.
Randy Orton versus King Booker versus CM Punk Edge was at ringside for the Platinum Contract match and he made his presence felt. The makings of a good match were quite hampered when CM Punk taken out near the start after a botched suicide dive towards Edge who had stood on the ropes. King Booker and Randy Orton put on the type of classic you'd expect two ex-World champions to. It was fair to say Booker was on top but in fairness to Randy Orton, he managed to kick out of a Book End. Booker snapped after Edge distracted the referee and tossed Randy Orton to the outside. A recovered CM Punk - cheered on by the crowd - slided into the ring and nailed an unexpecting King Booker with a Go 2 Sleep. Edge once again got involved. He didn't escape punishment this time however as Punk nailed Edge with a fore-arm. However, Edge's purpose was served as Orton slithered in and nailed an RKO for the win @17:12.
The first Saturday Night Main Event is released; UNDERCARD - Finlay versus William Regal MAIN EVENT - Rob Van Dam versus The Undertaker
John Cena versus Shawn Michaels The crowd were of rip-roaring approval as Shawn Michaels and John Cena would clash for the last time. In a match for the ages, Cena and Michaels went back and forth in the steel structure. The Showstopper pulled out all the stops - dropkicking the champ into the cage, an elbow drop from the top of the cage and he even rolled back fifteen years to nail a Teardrop Suplex. John Cena had his fair share of offense of course hitting a huge x and of course his patented Five-Knuckle Shuffle. HBK's resiliance showed true as he kicked out of numerous pinfall attempts as did Cena. HBK delievered a huge mental blow to Cena however as he kicked out following an FU. Moments later HBK would again kick out of John Cena's FU. The war waged on and in an iconic television moment, both men, perched pre-cautiously above the ring on top of the cage, traded blows. The crowd gasped and Jim Ross blew a gasket when John Cena FU'd Shawn Michaels from the top of the cage into the ring. John Cena pinned Shawn Michaels who shocked the wrestling world when he kicked out a nano-second before three. John Cena looked up in disbelief, first at the motionless Shawn Michaels and then at the referee. Cena uncharacteristically shoved the referee and shouted at him. Shawn Michaels stirred, a ripple in the crowd followed by an unbelievable pop as Shawn Michaels performed his trade-mark kip-up. Cena turned around and was nearly nailed with a Sweet Chin Music but he managed to duck under it. The two men stared at each other and the crowd started chanting 'You can't pin him!' at Cena. Shawn Michaels laughed a little and Cena responded by kicking Michaels in the crown jewels, as Michaels bend over Cena hoisted him up on his shoulders and landed a fourth FU. Michaels hit the canvas with thundering finality. Cena shook his head at Michaels and scaled the cage and climbed to victory @28:38.
The show ends with JR orgasming and the crowd throwing shit at Cena.
