Jake Lyndon Retirement Shoot Interview

[Shortly after wrestling his last ever match, Jake Lyndon was interviewed by CWW Interviewer, Matt Striker on all things wrestling related and his views on various things in CWW]

MS Jake, thank you for taking time to have this interview with us.

JL Not a problem Matt, let’s get this started.

MS Alright well we’ll start with where you left off. Angel Rodriguez was the man who retired you tonight, was that your choice or when you told the CWW Officials you were retiring, was the idea of Rodriguez retiring you pitched to you?

JL It was a mixture of both Matt. I told Shane McMahon I wanted to retire at Brought to Destiny, that I wanted to step away from the industry for good and he completely understood. I told him that when I stepped out I didn’t want to just leave, much like with Josh Polson, I wanted to put someone over on my way out. He got back to me a week later and Rodriguez was the man. He was very humble about it all and he is a great person to work with and I’m glad I got that chance to work with him. He’s going to go far in CWW and beyond.

MS Well you’ve mentioned Josh Polson there, what’s your thoughts on him and everything that is happening with his career at the moment.

JL Josh Polson is one of my favourite wrestlers in the world to watch wrestle and to compete with. He’s the ideal worker. He’s at the arena for every show whether he’s on the card or not, he’s willing to give anyone advice. When he’s in the ring he puts it all on the line whether it’s a guest appearance in CDW or the main-event of a PPV, he doesn’t slow up. He’s always doing whatever he can to make whoever he’s in the ring with look the best they can be and I respect him for that. He’s one of the few men who are left that work for the company not for himself. When he went to War, I was a bit worried, the War side of things tend to stick to that, body builder = main-event kind of scheme, but I’m glad to see Josh kept his head up and is very quickly turning it all around. It’s great to see.

MS Would you say you where one of those few?

JL I’d like to think so. I never go out of my way to make someone look bad. I don’t complain about results or hold grudges about stuff which has happened in the past, like some people, I just do what I’m told and try to do it well.

MS When you say, ‘Like some’ are you referring to Surge who has been very vocal about you, CWW and Super Perfect?

JL He’s one of the few I’d be referring too. Surge’s complaints about being squashed by Super Perfect and myself and completely Ludacris. I have never been involved in choosing results of matches and in my opinion he was never squashed. He had the belt taken off him so quickly because when he won it, he wasn’t meant to, the ref slipped and his hand hit the mat a third time quicker than it was meant too, mistakes happen. Surge took it personally and now he just sounds bitter, grow up.

MS Well we won’t go any further. Rather, I’d like to get your opinions on the ECCW Promotion. You wrestled there for a short amount of time, won the Terror World Championship and left shortly after losing it. Was there some personal reasons for you leaving or did you just feel it was time to cut back?

JL ECCW is a good promotion, don’t get me wrong, but I feel it’s got a lot of areas where it can improve, but those goes for CWW and EFNW as well. I hold no grudges towards ECCW, they’re a great promotion and the only reason I left was because at that time I was cutting back on a lot of promotions. I was in full swing of retirement and I wanted to wrestle my final match in CWW. That’s all, nothing more, nothing less.

MS Alright, where do you think ECCW can improve?

JL I think ECCW has too much set in stone. I think once a wrestler has expressed they want to leave and the fact that they drag it out for months on end makes it boring to watch. The wrestlers are no longer mentally there and are only turning up when they have to and you can tell just from watching. I think if someone wants to go, get them out ASAP and start pushing someone new that deserves it. I think they’re starting to do that a bit more now and it’s good to see.

MS Okay then. Let’s move onto something new, a protégée of yours so to speak, Dan Maskell. He also recently announced his retirement from the industry, what do you think of his career?

JL Dan was a phenomenal wrestler. He wasn’t the most technically gifted bloke in the ring but he wasn’t too shabby either. What he lacked in that technical area though, he more than made up for in charisma. The guy had is spewing out of him. But really, when I first met him, he only needed a little bit of tweaking. I didn’t do a great deal; I helped his ring work a bit and just gave him a few pointers with his promos. He had so much potential, someone just needed to give him a chance is all.

MS Alright, I won’t ask you your opinion on EFNW, we’ve covered that before, but rather your thoughts, as an outsider looking in, on the EFNW vs. ECCW feud?

JL It’s … it’s different to say the least. I’m not really a fan of the promotion vs. promotion thing. To echo Twista, I think it was a lot more entertaining when it was Harry Jones vs. ECCW while he was in ECCW. I think bringing EFNW into the equation has kind of made it seem like more of a work ya know? I dunno, it seems like both promotions could be doing more and pushing more people if they weren’t going at each other.

MS Okay then, let’s focus back on CWW. What’s your thoughts on CWW at this point in time.

JL CWW is a great place to work once you get here in my honest opinion, but a lot of people don’t see that looking in from the outside. The see Hardcore Demon constantly in the War Main-Event and using his pull on the War side of things to keep himself there, which I guess, is true to an extent and is one of the reasons I stuck to Revolution. But I think if you work hard, you’re eventually rewarded and you just need to stick it out. I think at the moment, CWW is struggling. Less wrestlers are signing on, which is a shame. At the same time though, this happens a lot with CWW, little one or two month periods where things dry up, I don’t think it’s an issue. They’ll continue to put on good shows and bounce back soon.

MS You mentioned Hardcore Demon there and ‘using his pull’, care to elaborate?

JL No, I’d like to point out right now, I have no problem with Demon, he’s a great bloke and I get along with him very well, but with that being said, during his career, mainly at the start of it, he played the politics game … a lot. He was very much for bringing success to himself and doing whatever it took to glorify himself. I think that hurt CWW a lot, and the fact that Dustin Shore never had a clean, singles victory over him was a bit of a waste of a feud. I think now, through Cyrus Blacks little rant a few months ago, he’s starting to see that he fucked up and I hope that on his way out, he does right by the company.

MS Okay, a few have said the same about Harry Jones … thoughts?

JL Pretty much everything I just said about Demon except he’s not retiring. I guess I’ll leave my judgement on him now until we see how this whole EFNW vs. ECCW feud pans out.

MS Alright, now can I get your thoughts on XCW? Everyone who worked there seemed to love it and I’d just like to get your thoughts on it.

JL XCW is what every promotion should be. There was no politics, there was no pushing someone for name value, they were rewarding the guys who showed up every week and put in the hard yards, and that’s why I and everyone else who gave it a chance loved working there. I think it’s a shame that some people don’t consider the Xplosion or Domination titles, ‘real’ world titles because in my opinion they had a lot more value than a lot of other titles which people consider ‘real’ world title and the guys who were lucky enough to get a reign with them you should be grateful, I know I am.

MS Know, as most people know, you started your career in one of the most successful tag teams in the wrestling industry with 11 tag team titles reigns, The Dream Team, with Benny Johnston. Can you just talk us through what it was like working in that tag team.

JL It was extraordinary. Benny was one of the most gifted guys in the ring I’ve ever met and his tag team work was just incredible. We’d sit backstage planning out the match with our opponents and he would work out 90% of it because when working in a tag team match, he knew exactly what to do and how to make it work. I think if I hadn’t have started out in The Dream Team, things would have gone a lot differently for me, and probably not for the better because Benny kept my ego intact in my younger years. He was great to work with.

MS Now, when you were a part of The Dream Team, you biggest rivalry, which really extended into your single career was with Hunter J and The Extreme Team, what’s your thought on The Extreme Team and Hunter J individually?

JL The Extreme where a solid team, but they lacked charisma. They were great to work with, but they struggled with getting the crowd going, which I guess Benny and I made up for in a way. But as you can see now, Hunter J is really starting to improve and come into his own as a wrestler and is really good at working the crowd. I think the Extreme Team held him back, especially during their time in CWW. I think if Hunter is given a chance, he’ll go pretty far.

MS Alright, is this the end of Jake Lyndon? Or will we see you in the squared circle again in the future?

JL Well I guess it depends. If my heads and my body are there 100% sure, I don’t want to go into it half arsed, because that’s not how I want to be remembered, as a guy who only tried when it was a big match. I guess if the pays good too, but we’ll have to wait and see. Dan and I gonna get some Poon first though for sure.

MS Okay, just to finish things off, you’re five favourite wrestlers you have ever seen.

JL Ah alright, number 5, Billy Hatcher. The character is golden, how can you not like it? Number 4, Dan Maskell. Bit disappointing he retired so early, but I’m just glad I got to work with him while he was still doing his thing, great competitor. Number 3, Cyrus Black. Incredible on the mic and truly one of the best in the world today. That rare combination of incredible mic skills and fantastic ability in the ring, truly amazing. Number 2, Kevin Evans. The kid has so much potential and his new character is just amazing. I can’t want to see what he brings to the table 2-3 years from now. And I guess my favourite of all time … Tim Lucker, easily. What he does in the ring and on the mic is mind blowing! I’m just disappointed I never got the chance to work a program with him honestly.

MS Thank you for your time.

@HarryJones: "Yes I saw Jake Lyndon's shoot interview, stop asking. Lyndon obviously doesn't understand what I have done for the industry and the wrestlers; I put him over so many times in our feud, but the guy is bitter over me success in the industry. Jake, the reason I am still around is because I am not generic and boring, unlike you in the climax moments of your career. It is a shame to see such a talented wrestler transform into an ignorant douche..."

The crowd erupt in boos as the new Revolution Heavyweight champion, Angel Rodriguez, and the Tag Team champions, Peste and Guerra, make their entrance. The Mexican Mafia execute their usual triumvarate pose, with Rodriguez lifting his title in the air, Peste and Guerra kneeling down and pressing their titles against each others. As the tag champs make sure that Angel can't be touched as he makes his way to the ring, Rodriguez spreads his arms wide, showing off his impressive physique and garnering more heat from the fans, before striding up the steel steps and entering the squared circle. Once all Mexican Mafia members are present and correct, Rodriguez takes the mic and adresses the audience.

AR: I am Angel Rodriguez. I am your new Revolution Heavyweight champion and I am the man who has retired Jake Lyndon for good. You all doubted me. You all thought that Jake Lyndon, the legendary figure in professional wrestling, would defeat me for a second straight PPV, but you were very wrong. You see, I told you that I would fulfill my promise and win this title for I had the whole Mexican nation behind me, and you all know that when I'm determined enough, I get my reward and this was my reward. No longer will we have to see Jake Lyndon inside a CWW ring because this title now belongs to El Nino Maravilla, Angel Rodriguez and unlike Jake Lyndon, I will defend this title with the honour it deserves. You see, Jake Lyndon, Harry Jones, Dan Maskell and Josh Polson have all held this title since I've been in CWW and none of them are going to do what I'm about to.

The crowd inch forward, intrigued, hoping that Rodriguez will announce something they will enjoy, like dropping the title, reinstating Lyndon or leaving the company for good.

AR: With Peste and Guerra defending the Tag Team titles on WAR, there is always a possibility that this title could be the only one held inside the Mexican Mafia, so I'm not going to defend the title just yet. However, I will have to defend the title on November the 5th at CWW Fight or Die, and seeing as I had to earn my championship shots, my next challenger will have to earn his. Without Jake Lyndon here, I'm offering a chance of a lifetime for one skilled individual. So here's what I propose. An 8-man single elimination tournament between the top contenders for my title. But instead of just an ordinary tournament, the 8 contenders will be faced with a series of tricky matches that I have had to go through in my career. The quarter-finals will all be Steel Cage matches, the semi-finals will both be Ladder matches and the final will be a Mexican Deathmatch. So, Mr. Hamazoki, what do you say about that?

Rodriguez ceases his speech as he waits for the Revolution General Manager to make an appearance and answer his question.

The fans in the arena go wild with boos as Omega steps onto the stage. He laugs, as he is holding a chair. He carries it down to the ring, slides in, and sits in it. He hold his microphone to his lips and talks over the booing fans.

Omega: So last night, I wasn't able to defeat Josh Polson. I'll give him that. But that crap-tard somehow managed to win the Brought to Destiny match? A match that, in my opinion, just gives the WORST talent a chance to shine. But, in this case, the WORST talent was able to WIN? I don't need that match to prove that I'm the best. Because tomorrow night on War, I WILL prove that I AM the best, by winning the Cage Championship against Santiago Del Rosario and Hardcore Pulverisor! In the end, I will cement my legacy as the BEST by either cimbing out of that cage, or hitting a 100% Bomb on BOTH of them! And it's because I'm "Mr. 100%" Omega. The 100 means I'm the best!

Omega rolls out of the ring and walks backstage.

OFF: I know its short, but I JUST woke up.

Matt: "He told me that he wants to challenge for the CWW Championship at the event. Anything else?"

War Results (9/19/2011):
Live in Orlando, FL

P1. Josh Polson opened War this week to speak in depth about his monumental victory this past Saturday in the Brought to Destiny Match. He called it by far the greatest victory he has ever had & guaranteed that he will become the next CWW Champion at Brought to Destiny by defeating Hardcore Demon. Dustin Shore, the last man eliminated from the match, interrupted Josh by sayign that it was a total fluke that he won the match this past Saturday & that Dustin himself was the one who deserved the shot, not Josh. The 2 men ended up brawling all over the ring, which had to be stopped by referees. The 2 would be able to fight each other later tonight in the main event.

M1. Peste & Guerra defeated The Perfect Name Society in a Tag Team Tables at 13:32 to retain the CWW Tag Team Championships after Peste & Guerra used a double reverse suplex off the top rope on Jermaine through the table to end the match. After the match, Angel Rodriguez, the new CWW Revolution Heavyweight Champion, came out to celebrate with the retaining champions in the ring. As they were celebrating, Eric Lindgren interrupted the celebrations, saying that he wants a shot at the Tag Team Titles & guarantees that he will find a partner. Angel decided that he could get his shot at the next CWW Pay Per View, Momentum Shift.

P2. Josh Matthews conducted an interview with The Black United Front's leader, Mark "Razor" Jones, who was pissed off about the events of Brought to Destiny. Mark guaranteed that Demon will not be the CWW Champion after Momentum Shift & guaranteed that he will defeat him in the main event later tonight.

P3. Diego Garza & Zeke Zahn were seen discussing Zeke's match with Criss Menace tonight, guaranteeing that Zeke will annihilate Criss after what Criss did to them several months ago.

M2. Omega defeated Santiago Del Rosario & Hardcore Pulveriser at 11:56 to become the new CWW Cage Champion after escaping the cage through the door while Pulveriser had Santiago in the Dragon Sleeper. After the match, Pulveriser absolutely snapped & brutalized Santiago inside the cage, as Omega looked on from the stage. Pulveriser hits Pulveriser Bomb after Pulveriser Bomb after Pulveriser Bomb on a near lifeless Santiago, then he exits the cage through the door, grabs a chair & re-enters the cage. Pulveriser folds the chair & places it around the throat of Santiago, then climbs to the top rope. He does a cut throat taunt & connects with a leg drop on the folded chair, causing the chair to crush the throat of Santiago. The masked superstar holds his throat & flops around the caged ring as Pulveriser stands over him smirking.

P4. A Brought to Destiny recap was shown on the titantron, recapping Jake Lyndon's forced retirement at the hands of Angel Rodriguez, as well as Hardcore Demon retaining the CWW Championship & Josh Polson winning the Brought to Destiny Match.

M3. Criss Menace & Zeke Zahn battled to a no-contest at 12:19 as The Black United Front came out & attacked Criss, Zeke & Diego Garza. Criss, Zeke & Diego managed to fight off the group & send them into retreat, then Matt Dean came out & had a very cocky smile on his face. He announces that at Momentum Shift, there will be a No Holds Barred 6 Man Elimination Tag Team Match, with Azazel, Brett Carter & Jayden Robertson of The Black United Front taking on the unlikely team of Zeke Zahn, Diego Garza & Criss Menace. The Black United Front smiled as their MS opponents were outraged at the decision.

P5. Josh Matthews conducted an interview with Dustin Shore, who was still unhappy about Josh Polson robbing him of his destiny of facing & retiring Hardcore Demon at Bound 2 Death III on December 17th. Dustin vowed that he will get his revenge tonight in the main event.

M4. Riff Radley defeated Kevin Evans & Jayden Robertson in a Triple Threat Ladder Match at 21:54 to retain the Cruiserweight Championship. This match saw high-flying spots from all 3 individuals, but in the end, it was Riff who would emerge victorious & remain the champion.

P6. Jim Ross & Tod Grisham hyped the next PPV, Momentum Shift.

P7. A vignette played on the titantron, hyping the return of Brock for the near future.

M5. Hardcore Demon & Josh Polson defeated Mark "Razor" Jones & Dustin Shore at 18:55 via pinfall by Josh on Mark after hitting The Last Rights. After the match, Matt Dean came out & announced War's main event for Momentum Shift, which will be a Triple Threat Match for the CWW Championship, between Hardcore Demon, Mark "Razor" Jones & Dustin Shore. Matt even added that there will also be a Special Guest Referee in the match, & it will be none other than Josh Polson. All 4 men did not seem pleased about Matt's ruling as War went off the air.
