| Charlotte Blackhawks Press Conference: With Head Coach Jason Garrett
Head Coach Jason Garrett enters the media room thats full of reporters and is smiling as he steps behind the podium.
Jason: "How yall doing today?"
Everyone says "Good"
Jason: "That's great. If you don't mind, I'd like to speak first before I take questions. First I'd like to start off with the statement... We, the Charlotte Blackhawks, are the Super Bowl Champions!"
Everyone laughs as Jason smiles
Jason: "It has a good ring to it. Speaking of rings, we'll be getting our rings in about a month. And even though Tom Brady won the Regular Season MVP, Alex Nichols won the big one. And that is the Super Bowl MVP. But I'm glad we won the big game. We're the youngest team in the NFL. I would like to congratulate all of our roster for making this past year so special. We weren't expected to win it all, but we did. We worked hard, trained hard. And everything. I'd like to thank our staff for a tremendous job. That includes me, Rob Ryan, and Joe. And we look to be hiring some position coaches this offseason. We won't cover all the positions, but we look to cover some. Also I'd like to thank our fanbase. We promise we'll try hard again to be exactly where we were this year. At the Super Bowl... Winning it all."
There is a pause
Jason: "I will now be taking questions."
Reporter: "Jason, did you expect for this team to win the Super Bowl this year?"
Jason: "I'm going to be honest here, but no. Not when it all started. I thought it'd take a good 7 years at least to bring this franchise to win the Super Bowl. But I worked hard with them and tried anyways. We all tried to do the unlikely thing to do. But that goes to show, we can do whatever we want when we set our mind to it."
Reporter: "Were you worried when Nichols got hurt in the playoffs?"
Jason: "Yes. Absolutely. But we defeated the Bears in the Conference game without Nichols, so I knew the Super Bowl would be easier with him."
Reporter: "What are your priorites in the draft?"
Jason: "We need what we lack of. We need some offensive linemen. We need Defensive Backs, especially. And thats about it for our plans in the draft."
Reporter: "You said offensive linemen and defensive backs are your plans for the draft. Ever thought about picking some up in the Free Agency?"
Jason: "Absolutely. We are going to use our draft picks and the Free Agency period for that. We definately want some veterans in our squad to help the young roster we have now."
Reporter: "Do you plan on releasing some people off your roster?"
Jason: "For now, I don't see any need for it. We got a very, very small roster right now. And the only way we would cut someone, is if they weren't doing their job. But for right now, I don't plan on it."
Reporter: "What particular person do you want to get in the draft?"
Jason: "Well, we haven't watched any tapes. But also its more than that. We're going to have to get scouts and our staff to go and watch the Senior College Game and we got to workout some of the rookies. So I can't answer that question at this time, but good question though."
Reporter: "What are your expectations for this upcoming season?"
Jason: "Well... Considering we just won the Super Bowl, I say my expectation is to repeat. Also I'd like to win a few more games in the Regular Season. 13-3 is good, and Homefield Advantage is great. But I'd like to take this team to a undefeated season. And every game counts in the Regular Season. We're lucky nobody finished 14 and 2 or 15 and 1 or even went undefeated. But our goal is to get better and better each year until there is no better, and just keep on repeating a perfectioness season. Now, last question!"
Reporter: "What is your advice to any other team in the NFL?"
Jason: "That's a great, final question. But to players or a Head Coach?"
Reporter: "Either one."
Jason: "Well for a player, listen to your coaches. They know a good path. Keep working out and training hard and don't give up. And uses your mistakes as motivation and get it right. As for coaches.... I'd say just be a player's friend, as well as their strict second father role. Have fun while doing it, but also give it a purpose. Also make sure they are getting better and they are working as a team. And don't ever give up, either."
There is a pause.
Jason: "As for you guys. Thank you for your time. I appreciated coming over here and answering your questions. Have a good day."
Jason then walks out of the room as the reporters talk amongst themselves, and some of them leave the room as time passes. |
