| Here we go! Some states have been called for Romney and some for Obama. These are the earliest returns, with blue representing Obama victories, red Romney victories, gray ones that are too close to call (or haven't been called yet), and black representing states whose polls have not yet closed.

| Right now in some of the toss up states:
Colorado - Obama 50.7%, Romney 47.4% (36% of votes counted) Florida - Obama 49.7%, Romney 49.5% (91% of votes counted) North Carolina - Romney 50.4%, Obama 48.6% (95% of votes counted) Ohio - Obama 50.3%, Romney 48.0% (62% of votes counted) Virginia - Romney 49.9%, Obama 48.7% (86% of votes counted)
As for Missouri, it should only be a matter of time before it is called for Romney. Nevada is not far enough along.

| Here it is, as it stands. Obama 303, Romney 206. Florida we will NOT know the result of tonight. It will take a bit, it's too close. | |

| If you live in Florida, because of all the amendments they have made, you have to read and fill out a 12 page paper before you can vote and such. And if you get in line, you are guaranteed to vote. So if if it was 1 AM and people were still in line, you had to let them vote. No matter what. That's why it taking/took so long. | |

| Besides there not being a clear winner in Florida yet, a few other tidbits of news:
- The Democrats held onto the Senate, going from a 53-47 majority to a 55-45 majority.
- The Republicans held onto the House, going from a 242-193 majority to a 234-192 (with 9 still not decided).
- The final presidential electoral tally will be either 303-235 for Obama, or 332-206 for Obama.
- Also, Puerto Rico voted in their elections last night and one of the questions was if they would prefer US statehood, independence, or the continuance of their free association. They voted for statehood. This means that with the approval of the US Congress, the United States may have its 51st.

Hardly. What I don't understand is how people treated Obama like he was a new candidate. He campaigned saying "I'm going to do this, I'm going to do that," but could never answer to "What have you done the last four years?" He called President Bush "irresponsible and unpatriotic" to increase the debt, yet Obama has nearly quadrupled it. He has spent more money in three years than Bush in 8 (and any president ever). Unemployment is higher (in fact he is the first president in 70 years to win re-election with the unemployment rate as high as it is). Taxes are going to be increased in 2013 to the extent that it will be the highest tax increase at a single time in American history. We fell under terrorist attack and he has done nothing in response; in fact, he told the American people a LIE. We now know that he knew all of the Libya details AS it happened but had his ambassador to the UN go on live TV and tell the American people a lie. Every aspect of the economy is worse and our foreign relations are too. Romney? He has devoted his life to business and making it work. He founded Bain Capital in the 90s, a company that invested in huge American companies like Staples, Sports Authority, and Domino's Pizza. He made himself a millionaire while at Bain; the way I see it, if he could create so much economic success for himself (and he supplied thousands and thousands of jobs for others because of his businesses), why shouldn't we trust him to turn our national economy around? He took over the 2002 Olympics in Utah where he cleared up a scandal and turned irresponsible deficit and planning into an Olympic success story. He was elected Governor of Massachusetts: a state ranked highest in education during his tenure. A state in which taxes were cut nearly 20 times while he was Governor. A state where he turned their economy around by improving their debt and credit situation. A state where he was forced to work with 85% Democrats and still accomplished all of this. Obama in his first two years had to push and shove Obamacare through Congress without one Republican vote. The parties aren't working together, yet we had a candidate with a PROVEN track record of working with the other party and making money out of it. America made a huge mistake.

| Taking into account the fact that Florida isn't done yet, Obama received roughly 7-9 million less votes in this election than four years ago. Romney just about reached McCain's amount.
The popular vote as it stands is 50% Barack Obama, 48% Mitt Romney, 1% Gary Johnson, and 1% other. Interestingly enough, Johnson is the first ever Libertarian candidate to exceed 1 million votes in a presidential election. Also, another fact: Barack Obama will go down in history as the first president ever to be re-elected by a smaller margin than his original election. In other words, every other president to be re-elected did better in his second election than his first, but this is not the case with O.

America made a huge mistake. What's Obama done in the past four years? Gave the country healthcare, got out of Iraq, killed bin Laden and Gaddafi, the Wall Street reform, the DREAM Act, repealed Don't Ask, Don't Tell, saved the automobile industry, put two women on the Supreme Court, Stem Cell Research is back, Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, stopped torture, the Stimulus package, and pegged student loans to a person's salary. But other than that, nothing at all. I'm not saying Obama's the greatest president ever but he's not the worst. And you want to talk about Bain Capital? Romney never wanted to talk about it. Bain did leverage buyouts, more specifically they bought the company KB Toys for $305 million, putting up only $18 million of their own money. Then they restructured it and paid themselves $85 million, which could have been used by KB to actually do what it originally was supposed to. Then KB goes bankrupt and closes 500 stores which resulted in the loss of many jobs, and Bain Capital walked away with a 370% return on their investment. Sure they "invested" in many other companies but they fucked over plenty of others. Yeah he was good with money but government is not a business and shouldn't be run like one. Sure it worked on a state level but on a national one? Not a good idea.
